We need 2 R’s!
Jun 5, 2009
I was listening to a radio show yesterday on the way home and heard a comment that sparked this post. The radio host stated Christians today need to do several things, and two of those are read and reason. Let me take these two R’s a bit farther and say that not only do Christians need to read and reason, but all Americans need to do more of these as well. Let me explain!
As citizens, we need to read. We need to read newspapers, blogs (especially this one!), news sites, and books. Knowledge is not neutral - you have to be actively involved. Too many people today allow themselves to be told what’s important, what’s fact, what’s true, what’s historically accurate, etc. They allow themselves to be told what their opinion is on the issues of our day instead of forming their own opinion. We must get our brains out of neutral and start reading so we can make informed decisions on the issues of our day. Here’s an example. Have you formed your own opinion on abortion based on what you’ve read about it or is your opinion on abortion based on your political affiliation?
Next, as citizens we need to reason. Why should we be against abortion? Why is it important that we elect honorable people? Why is it important that we have a moral government? We need to reason why these and other issues matter. We need to reason - determine - that we will stand for what is right. (Remember, truth is truth no matter how many are against it!)
I challenge all of us to pick an issue and read about it and make your own opinion about it. Then do something about it - get involved!

Reading and listening is fine, but the thing is that all of this media hype is slanted toward Obama and the Democrats. People are feeding in on this instead of listening to a fair and balanced reporting. The news media is in love with Obama and consider that he can do know wrong.
People voted for Obama because they believed what he said he was going to do, He lied and continues to lie. People belive in our government to do what we, the population want them to do, they don’t they got into office and they do what They want. It is like the Democratic party has taken something to make them go completely Nuts.
I was once a Democrat, but now I’m not. John Kerry and ex President Clinton changed my mind about them. They have gone so far to the left and they don’t really care for us as citizens of this United States. In the years that have past in my life, I have seen our freedoms gone, education go down, and the government become taited and corrupt.
Now I am considered a far right wing terrorist because I speak out against what they are doing to MY country and don’t like it. So be it, I will continue to speak out and hope with all my heart that people wake up and don’t act like a bunch of sheep and follow the leader when he is wrong.
On this day, D-Day, I have a Father that fought for our freedom, and let me tell you Freedom is not free, we all have to pay a price for it, he did.

I agree that we all need to read and reason! Our ultimate goal is to find the truth, regardless of what it might be. The difficult part is to know what is truth and what is not. Many skilled politicians twist the truth to their own advantage and in doing so make us think that what is false is true.
Politicians from both the Democratic and Republican parties have done this. They convince an unwitting public into electing them time and again despite the poor representation that they provide the voters. They use many tricks and clever arguments, but in the end we are left with a government that works against us instead of for us.
It is our county and our government, we need to read and reason so that we can understand what is true and what is false and take back control of our nation.

READ the Constitution and Bill of Rights (the foundation documents)
REASON - are the actions of this Congress, as well as the previous ones, in line with the foundation documents? Examine each bill brought before Congress to determine if it is authorized by the founding documents. What twisted logic is Congress using to push its agenda through?
RISE UP and make your voices heard. Our silence is consent!
